December Newsletter

Hello December and Happy Holidays. After Thanksgiving, it feels like a whirlwind until the end of the year. Every moment is packed, so I will keep this newsletter short! To read the full newsletter, sign-up.

As noted last month, we're trying to grow the elusive Périgord truffles. We hosted an SF AI company — made fresh truffle pizzas paired with Sangiovese & a barrel tasting while Lynell & Bill led a hunt demo. The season has just begun. Next Hunt & Wine is Sunday, December 21 — treat yourself to an early holiday gift in nature.

November News

As we approach the holiday season, the vines are ready to go dormant for the winter. The cooler air and softer light bring a quiet beauty to our vines — and each year, we prepare the soil for the seasons ahead. We’ve planted cover crops across all our vineyards to fix nitrogen and boost soil health, and hold the soil in place during heavy winter rains. This is also the time to clean out owl boxes so they will be ready for a new family in the Spring.

As vines go dormant, olive and mushroom seasons begin. Olive harvest near Thanksgiving, then wild and cultivated mushrooms follow. We aim to grow the elusive Perigold Truffle, the toughest of all. This winter, join our events to learn about the process, meet the handlers and truffle-hunting dogs.
